Ultimate Guide for Baby Shower Gifts

Been racking your brain trying to find the perfect present for an expecting friend or family member? You've come to the right place. I know the struggle is real – you want something useful, adorable, and that will truly be appreciated in those crazy first few months.

Because let's be honest, those early days are a whirlwind of emotions, sleep deprivation, and figuring out this whole tiny human thing. Been there, done that (twice!), and here are my top picks for amazing the baby shower gifts I’ve received and given

1. Breastfeeding Essentials

If you're planning to breastfeed (or even thinking about it!), stocking up on the right supplies EARLY is a lifesaver. That's why our  Jellie range is the perfect addition to any gift basket. Our Jellie Collect makes milk collection discreet and comfortable, the Milk Storage Bags are BPA-free and leak-proof for safe storage, and the Freezer Tray is amazing for keeping expressed milk fresh or even pureeing baby food once they start solids! I love giving a mum a couple of trays if I'm not sure if she's breastfeeding with a couple of the other items below, can be a great addition to any hamper.

We've even got a gorgeous Ultimate Collect & Go Bundle that combines everything in one beautifully packaged gift set.

    2. Books

Snuggling up with a good book is a beautiful bonding experience for both mum and bub. Some of my all-time favorites include anything by Julia Donaldson (think "The Gruffalo"!),  Little People books, and the hilarious Nick Bland ("The Very Cranky Bear"). Bonus points for titles like  Here We Are, All the Ways to be Smart , or the ever-popular  Giraffes Can't Dance.

    3. Bath Toys

Bath toys often get overlooked, but trust me, they become a bath time essential! Look for fun, colorful options that are easy for tiny hands to grasp.

    4. Hooded Towels – A Classic with a Caveat:

Hooded towels are a lovely gift, but let's be honest, sometimes we get showered with them. If you're looking for something a little more unique, consider something else on this list. If you want a classic and are happy to run the risk of doubles go for it! (maybe give a gift receipt with it if possible).

    5. The Wonder of Bond’s Wondersuit:

I can not tell mums enough,  Bonds Zippies are a lifesaver. My kids lived in these comfy one-piece wonders for the first few months. They cover the hands and feet as well so no need to get extra mittens and socks. Best of all no more wrestling with buttons or snaps in the middle of the night – just zip, change, and done! You can find them in a variety of places (Woolworths/Coles/Target/Myer as well as the Bond Store) shop around because they can often be 40%.

    6. Clothes for Later (Because Newborns Grow Fast!):

Adorable baby clothes are tempting, but the truth is, newborns grow out of them in a blink. Consider gifting clothes in a larger size (think 12 months or so) so mama can enjoy dressing her little one in something special when they get a bit bigger. Some of my favorite brands for high-quality, gorgeous designs are Seed Heritage, Gorman, and Chunky Munkey Co. I also love the outfits for kids from Best & Less and are a little more budget friendly.

    7. The Gift of Nutrition:

Those first few weeks postpartum are rough. Trust me, a voucher for a meal delivery service like Dinner Ladies is a godsend. Imagine a delicious, healthy meal arriving at the doorstep – pure bliss! I also love popping in a few of HydroBump’s fun hydrating sachets with a few other products as well. Hydration is key in those early days and HydroBump tailor their hydration formula for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

    8. Baby Blankets:

Baby blankets are perfect for keeping bub warm and cozy on outings. If you're feeling crafty, you could even try making one yourself! There are also some beautiful personalized options out there from stores like One Little Day and The Knit Studio. Just remember, blankets are another common gift, so be mindful of potential duplicates.

    9. Pampering Mama (Because Self-Care Matters!):

New mamas often put themselves last. Help her out with a gift certificate for a massage, some delicious breastfeeding cookies or snacks, or even an at-home facial or skincare kit. Think about things she can enjoy at home or nearby, as scheduling appointments can be tricky with a newborn. Plus if shes away from bub for too long she will feel like she will explode.

    10. Practical Gifts

For the mama who loves practicality, consider a Philips Avent steamer and blender (makes starting solids a breeze!), or a travel bottle warmer for effortless on-the-go bottle feeding and a Subo for making starting solids less messy.

I hope this guide helps you find the perfect present to celebrate the special mama-to-be in your life.
